Category Stories!

Got some Category Stories love today! Those girls could not have done a better job of showing the versatility of this beautiful kit - Christmas cards, fall layouts, holiday layouts - they did it all. Please pop in over there. Inspiration oooooozes from them.

It's in the details! I love this 6x12 format, and there are just enough embellishments to do what they're supposed to do - embellish the picture without overwhelming it!

Once again, Mandy's simplicity is breathtaking.

Let's just be real for a second here. If you woke up to this face every morning, it's all you would scrap, isn't it? Cause it would definitely take priority in my world. I love this layout - the ribbons along the edge are the same green tone as the grass, and the polka-dot background lends an air of silliness to the whole package.

The colors in Martha's fall layout are positively luscious. The papers back the photo up perfectly - totally eye catching.

Looking for Christmas card ideas? Look no further - Mandy Starner has provided us with all KINDS of possibilities!

From fun and playful, to elegant and graceful, she's got possibilities here for any card maker!

Lee's attention to detail is awesome - the playful way she tied these ribbons around this layout "ties" in great with the theme of the pictures!

More ribbon detail - this seriously must have taken forever!

She worked the background papers too, tearing and layering her way around!

Could this little Santa be any cuter? More tearing, more layers - a girl close to my heart! Love the way she tilted the journaling card, too!

LOVE Elly's sense of humor in this one - the torn and wrinkled background papers and ribbon echo the message in the picture. Good luck cleaning up that mess!

Mmmmm.. doesn't Deanna make you want to curl up with your favorite book and blankie? The green velvet ribbon is gathered beautifully at the top of the page - what an elegant touch!

Simple is best! Deanna throws the focus on the picture and adds a monogrammed title - the flocked paper is too perfect for this sweet photo!

Cammeron Kaiser used an awesome combination of kit products and stuff from her stash - her layout exudes the comfiness of the season!

Check out how she attached the journaling cards to the back of the layout - great way to get your story in without cluttering the "artsy" part of it!

The colors of this layout convey the richness of her subject - hot chocolate is one of the greatest sins ever invented!

Totally cute subject, and I love the way the design on the paper mimics the dandelion! Also, see the clever way Cammeron uses the journaling tag as a background for her title? It totally makes it pop.

Christmas Card! And just so you know, that paper with the holly on it - it's flocked (which is a fancy way of saying "it feels like velvet!"). She also cut the poinsettias out of the glittered paper. Way cool card. :)

Using Your Stash

Welcome to the very first "using your stash" challenge!

Question: How many sheets of alphabet stickers do you own?

Answer: HOLY SCRAP ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? I used to buy every sheet of alphabet stickers I could FIND, and now they're all sitting in a drawer happily not being used! Don't even get me STARTED on the rub-ons...

Whoa there, Scrappy, slow the heck down! We're gonna cover rub-ons soon, but for now, let's explore the many uses of alphabet stickers, k? :)

There's the same-stuff-different-day-method of using these staples, which basically consists of peeling them off the packaging and sticking them on your page, right? Been there, done that.

BUT have you...

1. Made them fuzzy?

We've put several different kinds of textured alphabet stickers in our kits, and right now, textures are HOT. Velvet, flocking, vinyl, foam, felt - if you can touch it and rub it, it's a trendy thing, right?

The next time you're looking for a fun title with a little dimension, put some "dry" adhesive on the face (top) of your alphabet stickers. You can run them through a Xyron, use a Tombow, Dotto or other dry adhesive on top of them, or some glue that stays tacky without being wet.

Grab something fuzzy - an old sweatshirt, piece of felt fabric, yarn, wool, or other transferable medium - and rub it over the adhesive on the letters. The "fuzz" will rub off onto the top of your letters, and you've instantly transformed your boring old alphabet letters into something dimensional and textured!

2. Added some bling?

You know you wanna. Go over the tops with some Stickles or Art Glitter for a little dazzle. Want them to pop even more? Attach them to the page with 3D foam adhesive!

3. Shadowed them?

Stick 'em on some cardstock. Cut around each letter, leaving a 1/4" border. Attach them to your page with 3D foam adhesive for some dimension!

4. GLAZED 'em?

Use some Diamond Glaze! Diamond Glaze will give your letters a clear, shiny "topcoat" and it makes them 3-dimensional! Careful, though - it takes awhile to dry.

Mom's Story

While the pictures are a little fuzzy, the story is perfectly clear - Dana Wilson used the Rockstar kit to decorate this itty-bitty coin envelope book for her mother, who lost her husband to cancer early this year.

"After Pa passed away," she says, "Mom said she never carried a picture of Pa with her in her wallet, because he was always with her. So I made this so she could carry pictures of him with her at all times."

This is Why We Rock

Dani Johnston posted this oh-my-gosh-it's-cool book detailing all the reasons she and her husband (and assorted cats and dogs) rock!

Back 2 School Crop

HOLY SMOKINGS BATMAN!

Cool crop. Really, really cool crop. Quite a few newbies showed up, and we showed 'em how to party like a pixie.

We rocked the cannolis. Sandra came and taught us about ATC's. We had cake.

Does it get any better than this? I think not.

Greetings, Scrappy Ones!
